Verescence

Application operation

Verescence wanted to be able to monitor all critical interfaces in the SAP landscape, and to be alerted in the event of failure, so as to limit the impact on business processes.

The primary objective of this monitoring was to be able to detect errors before they were felt by end-users, and to be able to alert the right person so as not to block business flows.

In order to fully supervise interfaces, Verescence needs to use 3 scenarios from the Application Operation perimeter of SAP Solution Manager.

For Verescence, we have implemented the following scenarios: Interface Channel Monitoring, Job Monitoring and BI Monitoring.

The Interface Channel Monitoring scenario was used to monitor various types of interface:
FTP file transfer (outgoing files to partners)
HTTP connection to an external partner
RFC connection to the BW system
IDOC incoming and outgoing to external partners.

The Job Monitoring scenario was implemented to supervise business-critical jobs.
The BI Monitoring scenario was implemented to supervise business-critical Process Chains.

Focused Insights

To help Verescence in its daily monitoring of SAP solutions, we have built a specific Dashboard with Focused Insight – Operaction Control Center. This Dashboard is used daily by Verescence to monitor its productive and non-productive SAP environments.

We used System Monitoring as a data source to retrieve all the necessary data, and customized the thresholds as required. This Dashboard was built using an iterative method, adjusting the thresholds for each monitoring point as we went along.

The Operation Control Center Dashboard provides a complete overview of the status of the various SAP systems (ABAP/Java/SAProuter/SAPConsole/MII):

Verescence displays this Dashboard on a screen on its premises, so that the entire IT team can see the status of the various SAP systems.

For each metric, we can display the values collected over the last 24 hours.
